This community service project in Panancangan Village addresses environmental and social challenges, with a strong emphasis on economic development related to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The project aims to improve the economic opportunities for villagers by enhancing their skills in mushroom cultivation, food packaging, marketing, and entrepreneurship. The project seeks to increase local income and promote sustainable economic growth by providing training and education. As a result, farmers can diversify their products beyond raw mushrooms, potentially opening up new markets and creating more jobs, thus contributing to decent work and economic growth within the community. The project's success in these areas aligns with SDG 8, fostering a more inclusive and resilient local economy.

Universitas Terbuka’s Faculty member, Prof. Dr. Paulina Pannen, M.LS, is actively involved as a speaker at global forums, such as the 10th ADB International Skills Forum. At this event, they participated as a panel member discussing the topic 'Adopting Tech-inclusive Approaches to Learning Quality, Assessment, and Reforms to Scale-up Education Access. Still, at the ADB Forum, specifically at the Regional Higher Education Forum themed Higher Education of the Future: Leading Digital and Green Transformations through Collaboration, Prof. Dr. Paulina Pannen, M.LS, was invited to join as a panelist to discuss Online Higher Education and the Role of Digital Transformation in Shaping New Ways of Learning.
With her expertise in higher education and distance learning, Prof. Dr. Paulina Pannen, M.LS, is one of the female professors at the university who actively collaborates with global partners. She has also been honored as a Jury Member for the Wenhui Award for Education, organized by the UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office in Bangkok.
Commitment to Equality: A Holistic Approach to Preventing Sexual Violence at Universitas Terbuka
- Universitas Terbuka is committed to preventing and addressing sexual violence on campus by establishing the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS). This task force works with the Rector to create guidelines that prioritize gender equality and tackle sexual violence. Every six months, they conduct surveys on sexual violence and report their findings for necessary actions. The Task Force also raises awareness about gender equality, disability inclusion, and sexual and reproductive health. They work closely with the disability services unit and other relevant agencies to protect victims and witnesses, ensuring the implementation of recommendations to guarantee safety and justice for everyone on campus.

Students Enhancing Learning and Employment Opportunities through IISMA
Students from Universitas Terbuka are also actively involved in the IISMA (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards) program, a scholarship initiative that allows Indonesian students to study at top universities and industries abroad. The program is organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MoECRT) and is part of the Kampus Merdeka initiative.
